Humans outlast most other animals, which is a recognized fact.

Turtles, however, are unquestionably an exception, and one of them managed to live to a ripe old age of 187.

Jonathan, a gigantic tortoise, was born in 1832 and is presently the oldest land animal still alive on the planet.

The turtle presently dwells with the governor at the Plantation House on the island of Saint Helena in Seychelles.

The fact that there is a photograph of him from far back in 1886.

It can be contrasted to his current photograph, much like a contemporary #187yearschallenge, is intriguing.

It’s interesting to note that the turtle was about 54 years old when the picture was shot.

While he is still vibrant and bursting with energy, physicians have seen indications of aging.

His senses of smell and sight are gradually deteriorating.

Since he isn’t eating sufficient grass anymore, Dr. Hollins gives him a special diet with extra calories every week.

Creatures typically outlast people. The only real exception is turtles.
